Maths Tutor: Sam Trapp

Sam Trapp

Hi, I’m Sam – I’m the founder and director of Metatutor, and I’m also one of the tutors. I’ve always had a passion for helping young people, and strongly believe in their potential. I first got into maths tutoring as a maths student at university. I was looking for part-time work to fit in around my studies and tutoring not only offered me flexibility, but also the genuine satisfaction of using my knowledge to have a positive effect on a young person. I really enjoyed engaging with and helping students, so much so that I am still tutoring for at least 10 hours every week.

About Me:

I studied Mathematics at Cardiff University, followed by a Masters in Operational Research and Statistics. I started tutoring in 2015, during my final two years at university, and continue to do so today. Outside of maths, I am a big Liverpool FC fan. I enjoy playing and watching other sports such as cricket, darts, pool and snooker. I also love listening to and discovering new music – my favourite artists include Radiohead, The Smiths, U2, Foals and Elbow.

What I love about Bristol

I’ve lived in Bristol since January 2017 and absolutely love it here. I live in Horfield, just down the road from the Memorial Stadium. I am a regular user of the swimming pool at Horfield Leisure Centre and also enjoy watching my favourite football team (Liverpool) at the pubs down Gloucester Road. I’m also a regular at All Stars Sports Bar on Queens Road.
